touring Germany
travel tours in Germany should include the Black Forest
Southwest Germany is a region of outstanding beauty with numerous forests, lakes and waterfalls. Tourism is the chief industry in the Black Forest in Baden-Wurttemberg on the edge of the Rhine river. The wooded, mountainous area has several tall peaks, the tallest of which is the Feldberg, standing at 1,493m. The trees are mainly pines and firs, some of which are grown on a commercial scale. Unfortunately, the forest has been depleted due to mass logging and the effects of acid rain. The Lothar Cyclone in 1999 also did its share of damage, destroying acres of trees on the tops of mountains.
Five rivers, including the River Danube and its source, run through the Black Forest. There are paths to cater for hikers, mountain bikers and cross country skiers. The area is a haven for wildlife, including owls and eagles. Other more unusual animals are to be found due to commercial enterprise. Visitors can ride a camel at Rotfelden and ostriches are reared on a farm at St.Peter.
There is a tradition of regional cuisine in the area and some food items have become internationally famous. Black Forest Gateaux is still on the menus around the world. The original chocolate cake recipe is still adhered to in the land of its birth with ingredients including whipped cream, cherries and liqueur. Black Forest Ham is also popular at home and abroad. The smoked ham is seasoned with pepper, juniper berries, coriander, garlic and other spices.
Culture and history are celebrated in the region. This can be seen at the open air museum named Vogtsbauernhofe. It re-creates the life of 16th and 17th century farmers with replica farms. There is a long history of making timepieces in Germany and the German Clock Museum at Furtwangen traces the history of clock making and watch making. The collection includes cuckoo clocks, musical clockworks and mechanical musical instruments.
One of the most popular towns in the Black Forest is Baden-Baden. The 83m telecommunications tower, known as the Fremersberg Tower dominates the skyline. The view can be taken from the observation deck and there is an adjacent restaurant. The town contains the Festspielhaus, which is the largest opera house and concert hall in Germany. Major opera and ballet productions are staged there. The town has a fascinating history, as can be seen at the ruins of the Roman Baths and the Hohenbaden castle ruins dating back to 1102.

Austrian tourism
things to and places to visit in Austria
While it can be a dear destination for travel Austria has such a lot to commend it. It is famous worldwide as a ski destination, yet it has developed a convention in the summertime sports too. In the 1990s, the great clay court tennis player Thomas Gather won the French Open Grand Slam contest in addition to plenty of other top class events, and was for a period the planet’s top ranked tennis player. The huge surge in interest in the game which followed was highly foreseeable, and the Austrian Federation had no trouble selling tickets for the competition at Kitzbuhel.
Kitzbuhel itself is a skiing and winter sports resort, but in the summer tennis contest the temperature has been known to rise as high as forty degrees Celsius, as the huge crowds enhance the heat from the sealing sun.
In the winter, Austria has so many heroes from ice and snow sports they’re too countless to mention, but this is a great destination if winter sports are your thing. In summer, the mountain resorts of Austria and Switzerland can provide some of Europe’s best views, so they’re worth visiting all year round.
Music connoisseurs are also drawn to Austria as it was actually the birthplace and home of 2 of the most influential names in the history of classical music.
Franz Joseph Haydn is frequently considered to be the daddy of the string quartet and the symphony. In neither case is this precisely correct, but he probably did raise both forms to a totally new level. Part of the reason behind this was his organisation with his near-contemporary, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a composer of even bigger genius who raised each type of music he entered to formerly unseen levels. Travel all though Austria is simple given that you are visiting the major areas served by the nations’s state rail service. Austria rail isn’t cheap, nonetheless it is fast and efficient, and you are able to save money by utilizing an Eurail pass if you’re visiting from outside Europe. Inter town travel is exceedingly commonplace and well supported, and there are even some smaller branch lines which permit you to see other less common parts of Austria, and a few of these branch lines are even privately held. Austria trains are usually efficient and run much to the agenda, which is what you’ve got a right to require when paying premium prices. If you’re after a rail trip with some amazing views, going thru the Austrian and Swiss Alps on an alpine train should be high on your list. The better news here is you can save cash by purchasing a special rail pass which covers just Austria and Switzerland, and little more. Booking these passes is straightforward thru the web, and you do not want to understand a note of German. These passes are good value for cash, and the train is surely the most suitable option for travel Austria
