Further south, Saqqara is home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser built in 2630 BC. Pyramid of Pepi II, also located at Saqqara was the last pyramid built by ancient Egyptians. In Dahshur, the Bent and the Red Pyramids are located. And down south at Maidum, the Maidum Pyramid can be found.

Rome

I am an American student studying abroad in the UK this semester. I will be flying into Budpest soon, and I’d like to travel on the train to Vienna, stay for a few days, then continue onto Prague.

I am so unfamiliar with the train stations and rail services in these countries! Where should I buy my ticket?

The trains are fairly easy to get around on. From Budapest to Vienna you may want to consider the Hydrofoil across the Danube, very scenic. Then from Vienna to Prague, you can either take a train or a bus. I found the buses were a lot nicer than trains.

Also, on your way to Prague, you may want to stop in Brno for a couple of days. It is between Vienna (2 1/2 hours) and Prague (4 hours).

Before I went I did a lot of web research, you should do the same.

I’ve heard some mixed reviews about Contiki, and I’m not looking for a "booze cruise." I’d like to go for a couple of weeks and I do not want to spend all of my time on a bus. Is there another company that offers an affordable way to travel (maybe 2 or 3 countries) and is for a younger 20-something crowd?

The Eurail Youth Pass can save you even more money if you are under 26 years of age. You will only be able to travel second class, but you will still have the freedom of the entire network in any of the countries covered by the scheme. Youth pass prices are displayed right next to the regular prices, so just chose this option if you are eligible. Travel is just as easy as with the regular Euro pass.
