Where are you headed to this year? Are you considering an England vacation? If you do, then it is one of the most promising tours that you can ever have. Being on a vacation is indeed a memorable event for you and your loved ones. So whether you are going out of the country with your friends or with your family members, there is one vital thing that comes around and that is your trip will involve spending money. However, you don’t have to worry that much because whatever amount that goes out of your pocket is equaled by the most unforgettable enjoyment, fun, and thrill! After all, England is such a vast place that the attractions therein are worth visiting.

Fun Things to Keep You Busy during Your Stay

Alright so you are looking forward to your stay in England. Of course the best place to visit is the famous city of London. Here are the top ten activities that should make up your list.

Go to the British Museum. Whether or not you are a history bug, the British Museum will surely fascinate you. It houses more than fifteen million of artifacts so the visit will open your eyes to its rich historical accounts as well as provide you with an educational experience. Its numerous collections will never fail to perk up your mood and if you get tired, you can always head towards the museum café.

Capture the wonder of London Bridge by dusk. Being one of the renowned London icons, the bridge itself stands majestically across the River Thames. The river flows peacefully despite the traffic jam over the bridge. Take photos of it at dusk and you will definitely love the scenery!

See the Big Ben and the Clock Tower. The clock tower is considered to be the biggest four-faced chiming clock with a captivating structural design. The Big Ben on the other hand is the gigantic bell that is inside the clock tower.

See for yourself the changing of the Queens’ Guards. Be sure not to miss this chance of witnessing the changing of the guards at the Buckingham Palace.

Tour the Westminster Palace. If you head to London on the summer months, you can grab an opportunity of getting into the palace and hearing of its educational and historical commentaries.

Go shopping at Harrods. Whether you want to buy or simply look around, this shopping place is truly worth your time. In here you will likewise see the memorial sculptures of Dodi Al Fayed and Princess Diana.

Walk around Trafalgar Square. You may not be able to feed the pigeons as it has been already banned yet the open square provides a great place for taking a walk.

Pay homage to St. Paul’s Cathedral. The Gothic architecture may have been destroyed by the fire in the year 1710 but it currently stands beautifully with fantastic facades. Don’t forget to pass by its Whispering Gallery too.

Visit the London Eye. Take a full view of the city as you ride this Ferris Wheel.

Sit and marvel at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Plays and educational tours are offered therein so you may commemorate the historical essence of this place.

So, are you already up for the fun and adventure that an England vacation holds for you?

Next year I am taking a gap year and have been looking into volunteering outside of Europe. I need travel and medical insurance but I am unsure of the difference between the two types of insurance. Also, are there any good sites that I can get good deals off? Thankyou! icon biggrin What is the difference between travel insurance and medical insurance?

healthquotes.awardspace.info – here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service.

does buying in advance make it cheaper at all? usually sold out in may?

Well if you’re American it used to be that you could only buy Eurostar (chunnel) tickets before you left the US. However, once you get to say the UK, you can purchase, of course. I bought my "britrail’ pass before leaving as well as eurostar. However once I was in London I decided to go back to Paris and needed another chunnel ticket. I got a big savings by purchasing a few days in advance and by having a Britrail pass! Sorry I don’t know about a Rail Europe pass but the Rick Steves website might help you!

Have a FANTASTIC time, you’ll love the train system! Bring unscented baby wipes with you; you’ll want to wipe off tables and such on the train!!!

England Vacation – When to Take the Trip

Picking the right time to visit England is as important as any other factors that go within your travel planning. So, if you are unsure on when to schedule your England vacation, here are the things you should know:

Unlike some European countries that experience chilling winter and hot summer, England has a moderate climate and temperatures that rarely fall to 23F or rise above 86F. Meaning to say, anytime is a good time to visit the country.

But like any European countries, the perfect time to visit England is always during summer, when the weather is the warmest and the extra hours of daylight are experienced. In England, summer months run from July to September. These months bring lots of tourists into the country. During the high season hotel rooms are often fully-booked and very expensive. Vacation packages are plentiful. All attractions, museums and theaters are open but long queues are expected.

Winter months, from November to March, are the least popular time to visit England. But this doesn’t mean that England provide less enjoyment. Again, temperatures in England rarely fall to 23F so roaming around the city is still possible. If you want to take advantage of the cheaper rates, then this is also the best time for you. Hotels are not fully-booked (except the Christmas season) so walk-in clients can be accommodated. Streets are less crowded and while some small resorts and shops are closed for the low season, indoor attractions, theaters and museums remain often remain opened to keep visitors occupied.

The months of April, May, June and October are considered shoulder season. If you don’t like the high season crowd and the low season temperatures, then this is the best time for you to visit. Weather is also pleasant during these times. Attractive deals such as cheaper flights, discount rooms and cheaper vacation packages are also available.

Weather
No matter what time of the year, British weather can change from warm and sunny to cool and rainy in a matter of hours or even in a matter of minutes. As British people often say, "If you do not like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it will change."

In general though, summers are warm during the day and cold during the night with temperatures that range from the low 60s to the high 70s or 80s. Winters are cold but are still comfortable with temperatures that range from the low 30s to the high 40s. Springs and Autumns (Falls) have varying weather with temperatures that range from the low 40s but sometimes 50s or 60s. Northern England is colder than the southern regions.

Important Dates
Attractions are busiest during holidays, including a week in mid-February and mid-October, 2 weeks at Easter and Christmas, mid-July to the first week of September, Crowd is at the highest during the summer months and the holidays such as Christmas Day, Boxing Day (December 26), Good Friday, Easter Monday, New Year’s Day and May Day.

British people, just like other Europeans take their European vacation in August.

i will be travelling from prague through slovenia to croatia by train (one way), but the internet sites i`ve been looking at are quoting £100+ for this route, i am wondering if it will be cheaper to buy the tickets at the station.

Great you’re going to travel through eastern Europe. Travelling by train is still quite cheap there.

I’m quite sure there are cheaper ways to buy a ticket. I’m wondering if you used the official sites of the respective national train companies?

Recommendation: Try to buy your ticket at the station. At this price level you should even be able to get a car instead!

Tip: Look out for special offers. Many eastern European countries offer round-trip tickets; e.g. in Hungary you can bidirectionally travel any distance longer than 250 kilometres for just about 25 euros! NEVER leave your baggage unwatched. Take some toilet paper with you, mostly there isn’t any in eastern European trains! And do never ever try the coffee!

To summarize: In Europe, train tickets are mostly cheaper at the station. However, the Internet gives you some cute advantages such as exact time tables.

Have a nice vacation!

European coach tours ???????

I am traveling with two friends( we are all female) to Europe in May. We want to do a coach tour through Europe. I know that it is cheaper to buy coach tours through UK or European sites than from American sites. So far I found a 8 day/7 night trip that picks you up at the london airport then goes through Belgium, Holland, Germany,Switzerland and France. Then brings you back to the London airport. This has many cool inclusions ,tours, meals etc… It is a Cosmos tour. All for about $650 p/p. Is this a good deal? Do you have any tips on better tours, websites etc…? Has anyone ever been on a euro coach tour. Are they comfortable, roomy, fun…..? I would love any info. Thanks

It sounds like a good deal. If you have great travel companions, it can make the trip all that better (I’ve seen some groups of touring friends yelling at each other during their trip, and it ruins others in the group).

Other companies to try:

Contiki http://www.contiki.com/en-CA/
Trafalgar Tours http://www.trafalgartours.com/
SOTC http://www.sotc.co.in/

Have fun! try Rivella when you are in Switzerland! (kind of like gingerale)
